This weekend, embrace the dropping temperatures and head to an outdoor ice skating rink to be romantic with your sweetheart.

You don’t have to be an Olympic skater to enjoy a day on the ice, and it may work to your benefit if you need some help.  Either take lessons with your partner or use your inexperience as an excuse to hold your date’s hand for support as you glide across the floor.  No need to be embarrassed if you or your mate takes a fall.  After all, experiences like that make for great laughs.

When you’re ready for a break, head over to the snack bar.  Hot chocolate will warm you both up and give you time to connect.

Ice skating rinks always play music, and most of them designate a romantic song or two so that couples can skate together.  When that happens, it’s your cue to take your partner’s hand, drag them to the rink and glide to the rhythm and the beat.

Remember to check with your local rink before you go.  Sometimes they have private parties or teens only nights.  You don’t want to be in a scenario that you weren’t anticipating, especially if it means a crowded floor of kids whizzing by you.  So plan accordingly to make the date just right.

Let us know how your ice skating adventure was.  And while you’re at it, don’t forget to mention what winter activities you enjoy doing with your significant other.

I suck at skating but I will ask my new guy out on a ‘skate date’. He’s good at it and we’ll surely have a romantic and good time. I just hope I don’t suck that much!

I’d prefer to be at home, playing board games or watching movies with my boyfriend. Then we could drink hot chocolate and spend some quality time alone. That’s really sweet.

I’m an outdoors type of guy so I would take my girl sledding. I’ll keep her warm all throughout our date.
