Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo and wife Candice Crawford didn’t think their marriage could get any better until their baby boy, Hawkins, came into their lives.  ”If it’s possible to bring you and your wife closer together, something like this really does,” Romo told People. “It strengthens your family values and your family and the love you have, which is already really strong. It’s been a great blessing from God to put us in this situation. We feel very honored.”  The star NFL quarterback has a very busy schedule, but he makes as much time for his beauty queen wife and newborn son as possible, and Romo says he feels very fortunate to have a wife that understands the demands of his athletic career and supports him all the way.

Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelley have finally stepped out with their newly adopted daughter. The couple brought their baby girl to a friend’s house in Beverly Hills on Saturday, reports UsMagazine.com. The couple announced the adoption on April 25th, though they did not release the name of their new daughter or other details. Heigl and Kelley are already parents to Naleigh, who they adopted from South Korea in 2009. “Josh and I started talking about [adoption] before we were even engaged,” said Heigl in February. “My sister Meg is Korean, and my parents adopted her three years before I was born. I wanted my own family to resemble the one I came from, so I always knew I wanted to adopt from Korea.”

1. Small get-together: Parties are much too overwhelming for children, and especially babies, to handle. Have a small get-together instead so you can introduce your new child to friends and family in a calm, friendly setting.

2. Prepare your friends: With adopted children, it’s important that your friends and family don’t intimidate your new son or daughter. Talk to your friends before hand and tell them a bit about your child’s situation.

3. Continued meetings: Most children will not remember a face that they’ve only seen once. If you want your friends and family to be a part of your child’s life, make sure that they are frequent visitors. The sense of familiarity will be a comfort to your child.

Sofia Vergara and Nick Loeb seemed to have the perfect relationship. But, underneath their success and PDA, it turns out the couple were on completely different wavelengths. Fergie and Josh Duhamel happily trekked over to West Hollywood’s Chateau Marmont for a friend’s birthday celebration Thursday night, according to People.  An onlooker reported that the small group of friends were enveloped in “enthusiastic group conversation” over the course of the night. “Fergie wore a big smile for much of the night,” said the source. “It was obvious she was having a really good time. Though the couple’s PDA was at a minimum, it was clear the two were enjoying the company and the conversation.” The group indulged in many different desserts throughout the evening and even sang “Happy Birthday” to the guest of honor together. At the end of the get together, Duhamel lovingly put his arm around his wife and escorted her to the valet so the pair could head  home.

Ben Affleck took to social media to wish his wife, Jennifer Garner, a happy Mother’s Day. Affleck, 39, posted a video on his Facebook page advocating for women raising children in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, reports People. Affleck founded a nonprofit, the Eastern Congo Initiative, in 2010, and is almost as dedicated to the charity as he is to his family. “I want to say Happy Mother’s Day to the moms in my life: my mom Chris and my amazing wife Jennifer, who is an incredible, spectacular, world-class mom,” said Affleck in the video. “[Being a mother is] the hardest job that there is, every single day.”

2. Take turns: If your partner provides most of the childcare on a day-to-day basis, try switching it up. When possible, take the kids for a day, and let your partner enjoy their newly found free time.

3. Enlist the children’s’ help: Being a parent is often a  reward in itself. Enlist your children to make a heartfelt card or art project for your partner. Your partner will appreciate the gift, and your kids will have fun making it.

This season of The Bachelorette kicked off last night with a bang. And by bang, I mean the noise that would resonate off all the contestants’ abs if you gave them a pat on their bellies. Is it just me, or are these guys extra ripped this year? Last night was all about First Impressions and, as we all know, they can be tough. Join that high pressure with tight competition, cameras and millions of viewers watching and judging. Not an easy stroll on your way to a televised romance.

Some of the guys pulled off their initial encounters with ease and style. Others simply fell flat on their face.

Here is my list of do’s and don’ts from last night’s episode of the Bachelorette:

Do: Try to connect on points of commonality, like First Impression rose winner Chris did. But if you try too hard to find common grounds it will feel fake.  At first, I was not sure how genuine Doug was with his “point of connection.” But all doubts dissipated when Emily read his 11-year-old son’s letter. From the look on his face, you could tell it was sincere. The guy was beaming from ear to ear. Only a truly proud father would do that.

Do Not: Sweat profusely. There was one guy who, within seconds, was dripping all over poor Emily’s beautiful dress.  I feel like such a biatch for saying this, but I could not hear a word he was saying to her because I kept concentrating on his sweaty forehead.

Do: Find something eye catching and cute that fits your personality. Loved the grandmother bit but he couldn’t hold it after his protective “mask” came off.  Mr. Seemingly-Outgoing-and-Fun quickly became Mr. Nervous-and-Silent.

-Skateboarder (Jeff) – Check.

-Prince Charming with the shoe (Tony) – Check.

-Guitar Pick (Michael) – Check.

-Foreign Language (Alejandro)  – Double Check.

-Ostrich Egg (Travis) – Could have worked, but flopped and then he was stuck with an egg all night. Half Check.

-Bouncy Boom Box Guy (Stevie) – NO.

-Cheesy Poetry said with no sincerity (Jackson) – EWWW.

Do: Bring your chopper. I know it’s a douchey move – if, in fact, you are a douche is another story. This is a game and the game is all about standing out and catching Emily’s attention. What better way to do it than arriving via chopper?

Do Not: Be that guy who sits and stews about what other guys are doing right and wrong. Nothing screams “insecurity” more than judgment of others. If you’re judging others that crucially, I can’t imagine what you are doing to yourself.  So calm down, rooster man.

Do: Have impeccable body language and tonality.  There were a couple of guys who knew exactly how to be open and own their space when making an entrance.  Head high, calm walk, shoulders back and a smirk.  Heavenly.  And if you can add in an adorable little routine involving a note saying how nervous you are, to show your balance of masculinity and sensitivity, you are golden. (A.K.A. Ryan, who I love! His hair’s a mess… but that can be worked on.)

All in all, I think Emily has a good batch of dudes to choose from. I know I’ll be glued to my television every Monday night to find out what happens.

Many of us aspire to live the glamourous life of a celebrity. When captured on camera, they almost always look happy, healthy, wealthy and full of life. As the leading Beverly Hills psychotherapist, I am here to tell you that everyone’s problems are the same. Yours, mine and those of the rich and famous all have common threads. It’s true that when you have money, the worries about how to make the rent and pay bills are eliminated, but they are replaced with panic about where your next hit will come from and how to remain in your lifestyle. Here are the top three issues for which celebrities seek therapy:

1. Communication problems.

Just like you and I, no one is perfect … not even celebrities. I teach my patients first to accept their own flaws. We must be kind and non-judgmental to ourselves if we ever hope to accept our companions, spouses and children. When communication (taking turns talking and listening without judgment) breaks down with defensive arguing, criticisms or interrupting, it causes a crack in the foundation of the romantic relationship. Distance between partners can emerge and begin a life of separateness, secrecy, cheating and divorce.

2. Parenting issues.  

I have treated hundreds of children of celebrities. The most common reason is to help parents identify, implement and follow-through on boundaries. Contrary to public belief, this is not more challenging because of affluence and privilege. I was on clinical staff for 15 years at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where I treated underprivileged and underserved families. The issues were the same as in 90210. It is simply hard for parents to say “no” to their beloved kids. It’s even harder when kids have parents with work, charity, and a variety of other commitments that fill their calendars.  Parents feel guilty about not being available to their children, and when they are there, they don’t want to fight.  They take the easier road by saying “yes.”

3. Controlling personalities.

The old saying that ‘opposites attract’ holds true in the way that we are drawn to our partners. For most couples, there’s usually one dominant and one passive partner. Individuals fall anywhere within a spectrum from mild to extreme. An extreme example is a 90210 couple in which the husband controlled all of their money. The wife never had her name on their mutual checks, nor was she allowed to have a housekeeper. The couples therapy involved slow-motion step-by-step exploration of the source and meaning of the husband’s control. It took long, hard work to chip away at his defenses and help him let go of some of his rigidities.

The bottom line is that when there are two people in a relationship, things must feel good (enough) to both partners. Here are my top 10 tips:

1. Always be curious and open enough to look within and become more self-aware.
2. Be kind and nice to your partner, spouse, and child(ren).
3. Do not strive for perfection. Be “good enough.”
4. Don’t get caught in power struggles.
5. Never engage in negotiations, bargaining, or deal making.
6. Balance nurturing with setting and holding boundaries.
7. Listen when dealing with conflicts. Reflect out loud what you hear the other person feeling and needing.
8. Encourage healthy expression of all emotions, including anger.
9. Nurture the relationship by having quality one-on-one time, date night, and daily talk time at least once a week. The foundation of your family is built upon the bricks and mortar of your marital relationship.
10. Shield your children from hearing Mom and Dad fight. It raises their anxiety.

British comedian Russell Brand and and singer Katy Perry will be officially divorced soon, but Brand is getting rid of any kind of connection between the two and unfollowed her on Twitter. The two had only been married for a little over a year before they decided to split, and it appears that the pop star isn’t having any trouble moving on. Perry was caught making out with musician Robert Ackroyd at Coachella, and although their relationship is still new, an insider told UsMagazine.com, ”They’re having a fabulous time.”

Once you split with your ex, it can be best to lose any connection you have to them to avoid drama or heartache. Cupid has some tips:

1. No jealousy: If you spend time stalking their latest facebook pictures or checking their most recent friend activity, you’ll begin to create scenarios in  your head about how much better off they’re doing, and it’ll create unnecessary and false jealousy.

2. No constant reminders: They became your ex because you wanted them out of your life, so get them out. You don’t need any reminders, whether it’s pictures or Twitter popping up to give you a little memory of your time together.

3. Fresh start: By cutting all ties you can get the fresh start that you need to move on to a better tomorrow. Leave the past in the past and start trekking down a more hopeful, ex-free road!
