They say that your 40’s are the best years of your life! Think women over 40 don’t have a place in Hollywood? Take a look at a hit series like Desperate Housewives. After reading this list, you’ll see that it simply isn’t the case. While The Moviefone Blog and other sites have continuously come up with 40 actresses over 40 that are killin’ it on the big screen, Cupid has narrowed it down to our top 10. We wanted them all to be sexy, successful and usually single, but recently settled down. Why? There is a new single celebrity in Hollywood! Actress Susan Sarandon is recently single. According to UsMagazine.com, “The actress — who was married from 1967 to 1979 to Chris Sarandon, and then dated David Bowie, Franco Amurri, and Tim Robbins — has been single since splitting from 37-year-old Bricklin earlier this year. Prior to their breakup, the two were together for five years, and co-owned the New York City-based ping-pong club SPiN.” Sarandon said that dating apps are not for her, but she remains open to meeting someone new and is taking advice on how to go about it.

The Big Wedding has a vamped up cast, including Diane Keaton, Robert De Niro, Susan Sarandon, Robin Williams, Katherine Heigl, Amanda Seyfried and Topher Grace. This new romantic comedy directed by Justin Zackham is about a modern family attempting to remain sane for the weekend of Alejandro (Ben Barnes) and Missy O’ Connor’s (Amanda Seyfriend) wedding. Don (Robert De Niro) and Ellie Griffin (Diane Keaton) are a long divorced couple who are playing “happy” for their adopted son’s wedding. Alejandro’s biological mother is also in attendance, after deciding to fly halfway around the world. Not only does she not approve of divorce, but she also doesn’t know that Alejandro’s foster parents are adopted. The Griffin family tries to keep their cool as they are bombarded with the past, present and future throughout the weekend.

Susan Sarandon is excited about daughter Eva Amurri’s engagement to the “fabulous” Kyle Martino.  The proud almost mother-in-law is not taking part in the wedding planning, however.  Sarandon told People that Amurri is “very smart and very organized” and that she “trust[s] her judgment.”  But that doesn’t mean she’s not assisting in other ways, from finding the right cake topper to advising Amurri on her gown.

We all know that dating is a minefield, right?  But here’s the thing; getting older doesn’t help.  A lot of 40-year-old men only want to date 25-year-olds.  And here’s why: a woman in her 30’s or 40’s knows what she wants.  She’s been around the block a few times, and she’s less willing to compromise.  She’s less easily impressed and she is, in a word, more discerning.

Now that’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it does make dating harder.  Also, when man hunting at an older age, you tend to want different things.  At 24, a cocktail and a great make out session will suffice; at 40, not so much.
